Retired Lt. Gen. Patricia Horoho, MSN, is stepping back into her previous role as CEO of Optum Serve, UnitedHealth Group’s federal government health services business.
An Optum announcement shared with Becker’s said Ms. Horoho was Optum Serve’s founding CEO. She brought together legacy businesses and supported military service members, veterans and their families.
Ms. Horoho served in the U.S. Army for 33 years, becoming the first woman and first nurse to take on the roles of Army surgeon general and commander of the U.S. Army Medical Command. In August, Ms. Horoho earned a spot on Forbes‘ “America’s Most Successful Living Veterans” list.
“Throughout my career in servant leadership, I have learned that the strongest organizations are built on trust, service, accountability and a commitment to something greater than ourselves,” Ms. Horoho said.
In April, Optum Serve landed a military healthcare contract from the Defense Health Agency worth up to $1.61 billion.
