Mr. Berman currently serves as vice president of revenue strategy for Burlington-based University of Vermont Health Network, according to a May 17 OneCare news release. OneCare is an accountable care organization that is partnered with about 5,000 providers to facilitate value-based contracts with Medicare, Medicaid and commercial plans.

Mr. Berman was involved in OneCare’s early development and launch, serving as director of ACO finance, according to the release.

His appointment comes as OneCare’s board of managers is undergoing a strategic planning process to identify how to efficiently and effectively continue OneCare’s work, according to the release. Mr. Berman is tasked with leading the implementation of the plan.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont announced in December it was not entering into a contract with OneCare in 2023, citing a lack of desired quality and cost outcomes, along with a new data strategy “that introduces concerns about security and privacy.”

At the Becker's 5th Annual Fall Payer Issues Roundtable, taking place November 2–3 in Chicago, payer executives and healthcare leaders will come together to discuss value-based care, regulatory changes, cost management strategies and innovations shaping the future of payer-provider collaboration.
