The OAHC is an independent, nonpartisan agency that will analyze increasing healthcare costs and propose solutions for the state, according to a Jan. 30 news release.

Ms. Garratt-Reed was key to launching CoverME.gov, the state’s insurance marketplace, in 2021. Her nomination must still be reviewed and confirmed by the state legislature for a five-year term.

The new office will also be advised by a 13-member council that includes representatives from healthcare providers, payers, consumers, workforce and other experts.
