Mr. Rechtin joined Humana as chief operating officer in January after serving as CEO of Nashville, Tenn.-based Envision Healthcare since 2020.
“I am humbled and excited by the journey ahead of us,” he wrote on LinkedIn on July 1. “We have the opportunity to be the best integrated healthcare company in the United States, serving the country’s most vulnerable populations – the aging, the disabled and those struggling to find access to high-quality, affordable care.”
Humana’s former CEO, Bruce Broussard, is resigning from Humana’s board of directors and will serve as a strategic advisor to the company into 2026. Mr. Rechtin will join the board, effective July 1.
Before joining Envision Healthcare, Mr. Rechtin spent six months as president of UnitedHealth Group’s OptumCare. He was previously senior vice president of strategy and California market president at DaVita Medical Group.

Many of the issues we are facing today are not unique to Humana,” he wrote. “What is distinctive about Humana is the past 10 years of thoughtful, successful work that has gone into building this company. It puts us in a strong position to weather the challenges, drive innovation, and thrive in the future.”
