GuideWell names new CEO for PopHealthCare, Emcara Health

GuideWell Mutual Holding Corp. subsidiary PopHealthCare and its value-based medical group Emcara Health named Eric Galvin CEO.

Prior to joining PopHealthCare, Mr. Galvin was executive vice president and chief growth and medical cost officer at EmblemHealth and president of ConnectiCare. Mr. Galvin has also held leadership roles with Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina and Cigna, according to a May 24 press release.

Mr. Galvin succeeds Mark McConnell, who served as interim CEO of Emcara and will continue as CEO of Guidewell subsidiary Onlife Health.

“Galvin brings significant experience in growth strategies and medical management of complex populations to this role,” Thurman Justice, executive vice president and CFO of GuideWell Venture Group, said. “His passion for collaborating across healthcare stakeholders to improve the health and well-being of diverse communities and his demonstrated ability to reinvent more sustainable and affordable health plan offerings will help drive PopHealthCare and Emcara Health’s next stage of growth.”
