Tich Changamire, MD, PhD, was named president of the Medicaid health plan run by Wellpoint Washington, D.C., a subsidiary of Elevance Health, according to a news release shared with Becker’s March 18.
In his role, Dr. Changamire will focus on care coordination, quality performance and experience. He will work closely with the Department of Health Care Finance in Washington, D.C., as well as other stakeholders, on the area’s Medicaid program.
Dr. Changamire joined Elevance in 2023, most recently working as vice president and chief medical officer for commercial health benefits. Prior to Elevance, he has experience at Humana and CareFirst. He is also a practicing family physician, the release said.
Former president Adrian Jordan transitioned to Elevance Health’s state affairs team, focusing on broader strategic policy work, a spokesperson confirmed.
