Centene taps chief medical officer for Illinois managed care organization

Centene’s Meridian of Illinois named Henish Bhansali, MD, chief medical officer.

Dr. Bhansali shared the update June 10 on LinkedIn. He will work across Medicaid and other government products, including the dual-eligible special needs plan Wellcare Meridian Dual Align.

“I look forward to advancing our vision of being a leader in government-sponsored healthcare through strong collaboration with members, providers, community partners and government stakeholders,” he said.

Dr. Bhansali is a member of HHS’ Physician-Focused Payment Model Technical Advisory Committee and has most recently taught at the University of Illinois Chicago School of Public Health. According to his LinkedIn profile, he was previously chief medical officer at Medical Home Network, which partners with community health centers on value-based care. Dr. Bhansali completed his internal medicine residency at St. Louis-based Barnes-Jewish Hospital, through its partnership with Washington University in St. Louis.
