According to an April 12 news release, Ms. Schmude was previously president of Cigna’s mid-Atlantic commercial market, covering Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C.
She previously led Cigna’s Pennsylvania-Delaware-West Virginia-Ohio market.
Ms. Schmude succeeds Jeff Rickets, who retired from Anthem BCBS Virginia in September 2022 after nearly 40 years with the company.
