AmeriHealth Caritas has named Gregg MacDonald interim president.
Mr. MacDonald has been with AmeriHealth Caritas, a jointly owned subsidiary of Independence Health Group and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, since September 2024, according to an Oct. 1 news release shared with Becker’s. He was serving as AmeriHealth Caritas’ executive vice president of specialty products and network.
He takes on the role as Kelly Munson becomes president and CEO of Independence Health Group, the parent company of Independence Blue Cross. She had served as president and CEO of AmeriHealth Caritas since February 2024.
Mr. MacDonald joined AmeriHealth Caritas from Centene, where he served as vice president of markets. He also previously held leadership roles at WellCare Health Plans, UnitedHealth Group, Cigna Healthcare, Aetna and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware.
