Ali Khan, MD, is departing his role as Aetna’s chief medical officer for Medicare.
Aetna’s Medicare Advantage has more than 4 million members. According to a Sept. 10 LinkedIn post, Dr. Khan joined Aetna Medicare in early 2024. Previously, he led value-based care at Oak Street Health, another CVS Health subsidiary.
“When I joined Aetna Medicare in early 2024, we were at an inflection point for the industry as a whole,” he said. “The work ahead was ambitious and meaningful: strengthening our clinical approach while reorienting around what I came to think of as last-mile clinical care — meeting every member where they are and closing the gaps that matter most.”
Dr. Khan said he is still considering next steps.
At the Becker's 5th Annual Fall Payer Issues Roundtable, taking place November 2–3 in Chicago, payer executives and healthcare leaders will come together to discuss value-based care, regulatory changes, cost management strategies and innovations shaping the future of payer-provider collaboration.
