Florida has awarded Medicaid contracts to three additional payers.
On July 18, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare and Molina were all awarded Medicaid contracts after originally being denied by the state.
In April, Florida awarded six-year contracts to Florida Community Care (Independent Living Systems), Humana, Simply Healthcare Plans (Elevance), Community Care Plan (Broward Health and Memorial Healthcare), and Sunshine State Health Plan (Centene).
Aetna, Molina, UnitedHealth and AmeriHealth Caritas held existing contracts and were not originally chosen for new ones. Sentara Care Alliance (Universal Health Services and Sentara Health Plans) and ImagineCare (CareSource and Spark Pediatrics), also submitted bids but were not selected.
Florida's Medicaid managed care program provides health coverage to more than 3.4 million people. The current contracts expire at the end of 2024.
