Highmark adds 2 health systems to network ahead of move

Pittsburgh-based Highmark Blue Shield has added two Southeastern Pennsylvania-based health systems ahead of its move into the region next year, the Philadelphia Business Journal reported July 19.

The new contracts are with  Sellersville, Pa.-based Grand View Health and Doylestown (Pa.) Health, according to the report.

The systems join Philadelphia-based Temple Health and Penn Medicine, which signed contracts with Highmark earlier this year, according to the report.

Dan Tropeano, Highmark’s segment president for southeastern Pennsylvania, told the outlet the insurer is on track to begin providing small and large group health insurance in the region on Jan. 1 and is targeting 2025 to introduce Medicare Advantage and Medicaid/Medicare dual eligible plans.
