Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield has been awarded a contract to participate in Wisconsin’s Family Care program, a managed Medicaid long-term services and supports program.

Anthem is the first organization added to Family Care in several years, the company said in a May 5 news release. The plan began offering coverage this month in two of the program’s service regions covering Milwaukee and 16 counties in western Wisconsin.

Family Care provides long-term services and supports to older adults and people with physical, cognitive, developmental or chronic health conditions who need assistance maintaining independence.

Anthem has operated in Wisconsin’s Medicaid market for more than 20 years and currently serves more than 120,000 enrollees statewide through the Badger Care Plus and Medicaid SSI programs.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Fall Payer Issues Roundtable, taking place November 2–3 in Chicago, payer executives and healthcare leaders will come together to discuss value-based care, regulatory changes, cost management strategies and innovations shaping the future of payer-provider collaboration.
