The sides have extended their contract multiple times to avoid a split. In April, the payer and health system extended their contract through May 31. The contract is now set to expire after July 31, according to BCBS Texas’ website.

BCBS Texas members with the following plans would be affected if the sides are unable to reach an agreement by the deadline:

  • Blue Choice PPO
  • Blue Essentials
  • Blue Advantage HMO

The sides reached a contract agreement keeping Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood (Texas) patients with Blue Advantage HMO plans in network, according to the website.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Fall Payer Issues Roundtable, taking place November 2–3 in Chicago, payer executives and healthcare leaders will come together to discuss value-based care, regulatory changes, cost management strategies and innovations shaping the future of payer-provider collaboration.
