Aetna, University of California reach contract agreement

Aetna has reached a tentative contract agreement with the six University of California health systems, avoiding a split that would have affected thousands of patients, the Sacramento Bee reported April 22.

The contracts were set to expire April 22. The contract negotiations affected Aetna HMO and PPO members and did not include Medi-Cal plans. 

Aetna members will remain in-network with: 

  • UC San Diego Health
  • UC San Francisco Health 
  • UC Los Angeles Health
  • UC Irvine Health (Orange, Calif.)
  • UC Riverside (Calif.) Health 
  • UC Davis Health (Sacramento, Calif.)
