Aetna is facing a looming contract expiration with six University of California health systems, The Sacramento Bee reported April 8.
University of California Davis Health sent letters to 6,900 patients with Aetna informing them the systems will be out-of-network if a new contract agreement is not reached by April 22.
Other systems affected by the contract negotiations include
- UC San Diego Health
- UC San Francisco Health
- UC Los Angeles Health
- UC Irvine Health
- UC Riverside Health
The contract negotiations affect Aetna HMO and PPO members. The negotiations do not include Medi-Cal plans.
In a statement to The Sacramento Bee, the UC Office of the President said it is "actively working" toward reaching an agreement with Aetna.
