The Chicago-based firm is building a network of accessible primary care practices in Massachusetts focused on disease prevention, chronic condition management and healthy lifestyles, according to an Aug. 25 BCBS news release.
Under the arrangement, VillageMD and BCBS will work together to develop primary care innovations that improve the quality and affordability of care, as well as the patient experience, according to the release. VillageMD also aims to ensure that BCBS members have timely access to care at its practices.
“VillageMD’s commitment to value-based care aligns with our vision to promote quality health care that’s accessible, equitable and affordable,” Sandhya Rao, MD, senior vice president and chief medical officer of BCBS Massachusetts, said in the news release.
