Prior to CalOptima, Ms. Bruno-Nelson was president and CEO of Los Angeles-based National Health Foundation, a nonprofit organization aimed at improving health outcomes for underserved communities, according to a May 25 news release shared with Becker’s.

CalOptima is a public health system that provides health coverage to more than 886,000 low-income individuals in Orange County, Calif. First implemented in January, CalAIM is a five-year plan aimed at providing stability to MediCal through standardized services and a population health, whole-person approach.

“Kelly brings the right background at the right time,” CalOptima CEO Michael Hunn said. “Her new executive role will ensure CalOptima remains mission-driven in service to our community’s nearly 900,000 Medi-Cal members. Changes to Medi-Cal are ongoing, and Kelly’s collaborative leadership will help CalOptima create and respond to the opportunities ahead.”
