Humana is eliminating some jobs as it introduces other roles, the company confirmed to Becker’s on Oct. 27.
Becker’s identified several LinkedIn posts from this fall that indicated some creative roles had been cut. As of Oct. 27, Kentucky — where Humana is based — had not published any recent Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification notices from the insurer.
The company said it could not disclose the number of affected roles, the departments impacted or the timeline for cuts. In a statement shared with Becker’s on Oct. 27, Humana said it makes staffing adjustments as necessary “to drive greater organizational efficiency, better meet the needs of our business and create greater value for our members and patients.”
“As we make these changes, some roles are eliminated while new roles and opportunities are created in areas that support our future direction. These adjustments are occurring across different functions and locations,” the statement said. “Humana continues to maintain a large employee base in Louisville, and we remain committed to our hometown community and to supporting associates affected by these changes.”
As of Dec. 31, 2025, Humana had roughly 67,060 employees, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.
Humana expected to exit Medicare Advantage plans covering roughly 600,000 members in 2027. Meanwhile, other insurers have also been modifying their workforces. For example, Centene lost roughly 12% of its headcount between the end of 2025 and the third quarter of 2026.
