Troy Hildreth has left his role as president of WellCare of North Carolina.
Under Centene, WellCare of North Carolina was the state’s brand for government-backed plans. In a LinkedIn post, Mr. Hildreth said he worked for Centene and the brand for more than 20 years. He is shifting his focus to advisory, board and consulting opportunities.
Earlier in 2026, WellCare of North Carolina received regulatory approval for its merger with Carolina Complete Health, a provider-led health plan that focused on Medicaid managed care and was established in part by Centene. An April 2 Centene news release said the merged entity will take on Carolina Complete Health branding and cover more than 980,000 members across Medicaid, Medicare and the marketplace.
