Elevance Health is laying off 85 employees in Washington, D.C. as part of its move to exit the district’s Medicaid managed care program.
The company said the layoffs will take place between Oct. 2 and July 31, 2027 in regulatory documents filed July 27.
In its departure announcement earlier this month, Elevance subsidiary Wellpoint DC said that members will transition to a new plan on Aug. 1. Elevance has said it plans to exit additional Medicaid markets over the next 12 to 18 months as well.
“We are committed to supporting affected associates throughout this transition,” an Elevance spokesperson told Becker’s. “We are working with associates to help them explore available opportunities across the company that align with their skills and experience and provide resources to support their transition.”
