Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota expanded Blue Care Advisor, the company’s AI-powered “digital front door,” to members across its Medicare plans.
According to a July 7 news release, Blue Care Advisor launched in 2024 for members with employer-based coverage. Blue Care Advisor is accessible via its app and BCBS Minnesota’s website. It gives personalized recommendations to members based on their benefits and claims data. Some use cases include locating a recent claim, confirming a member ID and finding an in-network physician.
BCBS Minnesota is also rolling out a Blue Ribbon designation within Blue Care Advisor’s tool for finding care. The tool will use a national dataset of cost and quality ratings to assist members with finding high-quality, affordable care options, both in person and virtually.
The company’s claims data shows Blue Care Advisor users are more likely to receive preventive care across several health areas, and they are twice as likely to visit highly rated providers at a lower cost when relying on the “find care” tool.
