Chris Fanning will join Independence Blue Cross as executive vice president and chief commercial officer July 27.
Mr. Fanning will advance commercial strategy through products, sales and partnerships, according to a June 25 company news release. He will work on customer engagement and solutions for boosting health outcomes and affordability.
Mr. Fanning brings more than 30 years of healthcare experience across commercial, Medicare and Medicaid businesses, the news release said. He most recently worked at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota as chief growth officer. He previously held leadership positions at Geisinger Health Plan and Coventry Health Care, now owned by Aetna.
He also helped launch Coupe Health, an alternative health plan that IBX has since adopted.
