Michael Cole has been named executive vice president at Norfolk, Va.-based Sentara Health and president of the health system’s insurance division, effective June 15.
He most recently served as president and CEO of Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon and Regence BlueShield of Washington. A Regence spokesperson confirmed the company is searching for his replacement.
Prior to Regence, Mr. Cole served as president of Aetna’s North Atlantic market and as president and CEO of its Keystone market in Pennsylvania.
Sentara Health Plans has nearly one million members. It offers commercial group, individual, Medicaid, and D-SNP plans in Virginia. In Florida, it offers commercial group and individual plans through AvMed.
