CVS Health’s Aetna launched the next generation of its claims assist manager, an agentic AI claims adviser.
Using claims adjuster AI agents, the tool reduces processing time by more than 20% for complex claims that need manual review, according to a May 26 news release from the company. AI agents use data that reflects eligibility and coverage, as well as the member and the provider, to automate resolutions. CVS Health also said it boosts payment accuracy.
As other health insurance companies invest heavily in AI, Aetna has also been making strides. In the fall, Aetna began rolling out its generative AI conversational assistant to cut back on members’ exposure to industry-specific jargon. Aetna said it anticipated the tool would feature voice enablement within the first half of 2026. Earlier in 2025, Aetna also launched its Care Paths tool to boost member experience.
Aetna’s claims assist manager is one aspect of CVS’ $20 billion yearslong digital innovation investment, the release said.
