From creating two new group president roles to pitching CMS on Medicaid fraud reforms, here are 10 updates on Centene that Becker’s has reported since Feb. 6:
1. Centene created two group president roles. Daniel Finke will join Centene as group president of markets and commercial, and Michael Carson, CEO of Wellcare — Centene’s Medicare business — is becoming group president of Medicare and specialty.
2. Carolina Complete Health and WellCare of North Carolina, both Centene subsidiaries, secured regulatory approval to move forward with their merger to form a managed care organization.
3. Centene CEO Sarah London earned $19.5 million in 2025, down from $20.6 million in 2024.
4. Centene named Kate Casso senior vice president of finance operations and innovation and Theodore Pienkos corporate controller and chief accounting officer.
5. Centene expects its ACA membership to fall nearly 40% by the end of 2026, company executives said at the Barclays 28th Annual Global Healthcare Conference.
6. Four Centene subsidiaries are among the 10 largest Medicaid managed care plans by enrollment.
7. Centene offered CMS seven Medicaid reform proposals that would allow managed care organizations to take the reins in targeting fraud, waste and abuse in Medicaid.
8. Centene named Greg LaManna as its first chief duals integration officer under the company’s Medicare business, Wellcare.
9. Centene-owned Magellan Health entered into an agreement to be acquired by Madison Health Group.
10. Centene reported a net loss of $6.7 billion in 2025, compared to a net income of $3.3 billion in 2024.
