Centene has created two group president roles, according to an April 6 news release.

Daniel Finke will join Centene as group president of markets and commercial, and Michael Carson, CEO of Wellcare — Centene’s Medicare business — is becoming group president of Medicare and specialty.

Mr. Finke will oversee Medicaid and commercial products. He was previously CEO at Convey Health Solutions, a health plan technology company. Prior to that role, he was executive vice president of CVS Health and president of Aetna. He holds more than two decades of healthcare leadership experience.

Mr. Carson will expand his executive role to have broader leadership over the Medicare Advantage, Medicare Part D, duals and specialty businesses. He joined Centene at the beginning of 2024 as CEO of Wellcare. Previously, he was CEO for Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Bright Healthcare (Bright Health Group has since rebranded to NeueHealth). Mr. Carson has been in healthcare leadership for nearly three decades.

Both roles will report to CEO Sarah London.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Fall Payer Issues Roundtable, taking place November 2–3 in Chicago, payer executives and healthcare leaders will come together to discuss value-based care, regulatory changes, cost management strategies and innovations shaping the future of payer-provider collaboration.
