Cigna Healthcare taps chief medical officer

Cigna Healthcare — Cigna’s health benefits division — named Stanley Crittenden, MD, as chief medical officer, according to a March 23 news release.

Dr. Crittenden will oversee the business’s clinical initiatives. He will collaborate with fellow leaders at The Cigna Group to improve care access and ease the healthcare experience, as well.

Dr. Crittenden comes from care navigation company Quantum Health, where he served as chief medical officer. He also has experience at Anthem and Humana. As a physician executive, Dr. Crittenden is board-certified in internal medicine, nephrology and clinical hypertension.

In November, Amy Flaster, MD, was promoted from her Cigna Healthcare CMO role to serve The Cigna Group in an expanded capacity. In 2024, Dr. Flaster joined Cigna from home-care provider ConcertoCare.
