Blue Cross of Idaho is implementing “organizational changes” to boost efficiency and lower costs, affecting fewer than 90 roles, a spokesperson confirmed to Becker’s Jan. 21.

“These decisions were not easy to make but position Blue Cross of Idaho to remain a strong, Idaho-based company … that has been committed to the state for the last 80 years. These changes are designed to help us focus on serving our nearly 600,000 members and continue transforming the healthcare experience of the communities we serve,” the spokesperson said.

After losing a dual-eligible contract to UnitedHealthcare and Molina Healthcare last spring, the insurer also laid off 135 employees.
