The Cigna Group has promoted Amy Flaster, MD, to chief medical officer.

Dr. Flaster assumed the role Nov. 1 after serving as chief medical officer for Cigna Healthcare, the company’s insurance division, since December, according to a Nov. 6 news release. She will serve in an expanded role across both Cigna Healthcare and Evernorth, the company’s health services arm.

In her new role, Dr. Flaster will lead efforts to advance clinical excellence, introduce innovative care models, strengthen and grow clinical teams and leverage technology to improve whole-person health, according to the release.

Before joining Cigna, Dr. Flaster served as the CMO of home-care provider ConcertoCare. She is a practicing primary care physician at Boston-based Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. She has a special interest in chronic disease management, according to her LinkedIn page.

Dr. Flaster’s promotion follows the retirement of David Brailer, MD, PhD, who had served as the company’s executive vice president and chief health officer since 2022.
