Ohio drops GLP-1 coverage for state employees

Ohio ended GLP-1 coverage for weight loss under its state employee health plan on July 1.

Any current prior authorizations for medications will be honored until they expire, and GLP-1 medications prescribed for diabetes will continue to be covered.

Several states have dropped GLP-1 coverage for weight loss for public employees recently over high costs, including Louisiana and North Carolina. Less than half of the states provide coverage of GLP-1s for weight loss to public employees.
