UnitedHealthcare is cutting more than 150,000 square feet of office space in Maryland Heights, Mo. as many of its employees continue to work remote or hybrid, the St. Louis Business Journal reported Jan. 23.

UnitedHealth employs 4,500 people in Missouri. It is unclear how much space the insurer will continue to lease at the site.

UnitedHealth Group has offloaded office space in other states recently. In 2023, the company said it would move its Minnetonka, Minn.-headquarters, to an existing campus occupied by Optum in nearby Eden Prairie, reflecting the need for less office space as more employees work remotely. UnitedHealthcare is still based in Minnetonka.
