UCare names former Kansas Medicaid director, UnitedHealthcare leader as market president

UCare has tapped former Kansas Medicaid Director Jon Hamdorf, PhD, to lead its effort to win a Medicaid contract in the state.

According to a June 28 news release, Dr. Hamdorf will serve as Kansas market president for UCare. Dr. Hamdorf led the state’s Medicaid program from 2017 to 2019, according to his LinkedIn profile

Dr. Hamdorf also previously served as chief operating officer at UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Kansas. 

Minneapolis-based UCare offers Medicaid, Medicare and individual plans in Minnesota and Wisconsin. The plan has bid for contracts in other states, losing a bid for Iowa’s Medicaid contract in 2022.
