PacificSource will cut about 300 roles across Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Washington, according to a spokesperson and notices filed with the government.

The payer cited a “significant” drop in Medicaid membership across Lane County, Ore., as a driving force behind the layoffs. In September, PacificSource decided not to renew the area’s Medicaid contract, ultimately affecting 100,000 members.

“Like many health plans, we continue to face significant pressures, including rising healthcare costs and Medicaid funding challenges in Oregon,” the spokesperson told Becker’s.

Effective at the end of the year, PacificSource will eliminate 265 positions in its home state of Oregon.

The transition will take place throughout the upcoming months. Employees will get severance and career transition support.
