HCSC, which operates Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, will lease the site for 11.5 years, according to a May 16 news release. The new office is designed to offer job opportunities to residents in the surrounding area.

“Partnering with communities and providing jobs where they are needed strengthens the connection between access and health,” Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas President Jim Springfield said.

The facility is being renovated and is expected to be completed in January 2025, according to the release.

HCSC operates five Blue Cross Blue Shield affiliates in Texas, Illinois, New Mexico, Montana and Oklahoma. In 2023, the company opened a 300-person service center in Chicago.

“As we grow our business, we are making intentional investments to create job opportunities that can benefit local residents and empower them to reinvest in the areas where they live,” Opella Ernest, MD, president of markets at HCSC, said.

The facility is HCSC’s 17th in Texas.
