Fidelis commits to hybrid, remote work with plan to downsize office space

Fidelis Care is committing to remote and hybrid employee workstyles and will exit some leases for office space in the Buffalo and Niagara Falls region of New York, The Buffalo News reported Sept. 6.

The Centene subsidiary will keep its lease for 90,000 square feet of office space in the CrossPoint Business Park of Amherst, N.Y., but will reimagine the space to become the payer's "primary talent hub in the region" as the company shifts toward permanent remote and hybrid workstyles.

Fidelis employs about 5,000 people across New York and did not specify where it would be ending leases.

In April, Centene said it would be reducing its real estate footprint nationwide by 65 percent, which is expected to save the company up to $200 million annually.

Other payers such as UnitedHealthcare and Molina also significantly reduced office space this year.
