CareOregon has laid off 80 employees and eliminated 70 empty positions in response to financial headwinds, The Oregonian reported July 22.

According to the report, the layoffs included positions at all levels of the company. The insurer employed more than 1,100 people as of 2023 and served more than 520,000 Medicaid and dual-eligible members.

“CareOregon, like many health care organizations, is navigating significant financial challenges driven by national uncertainty and long-term sustainability concerns at the local level,” a CareOregon spokesperson told the newspaper.
