The insurance company currently occupies two office spaces in the city. The move will allow BlueKC to consolidate its employees into one building, according to a news release.

BlueKC said the company had been exploring options for upgrading its office space over the last several years, considering renovating the current office, leasing existing space or constructing a new building.

The company will lease the 18-story building, originally built to be the new headquarters of financial management company Waddell & Reed. After merging with Macquarie Asset Management, the company said it would no longer move into the building, the Kansas City Business Journal reported Sept. 16.

“We need a workplace that will evolve with us as we drive change to advance affordable access to healthcare and improve the health of our members. Our new location at 1400 Baltimore will enable us to do that,” BlueKC CEO Erin Stucky said in the release.
