BCBS Nebraska was the first private partner of Ignite Nebraska, a workforce development project led by the state.
In October, four students graduated from the program. All of the graduates are working for BCBS Nebraska, Joni Wheeler, founder of Ignite Nebraska and executive vice president of talent and enterprise solutions at BCBS Nebraska, told the newspaper.
Ms. Wheeler said four more students are currently enrolled in the program, and seven to 10 will enroll in March. Ms. Wheeler told the Omaha World-Herald she plans to grow the program slowly but hopes subsequent classes will have at least 10 students.
The pilot program focused on IT fields, but Ms. Wheeler said the program will eventually expand to encompass other areas.
