CVS Health has started delivering layoff notices across the company, including Aetna.
CVS declined to share with Becker's how many employees would be laid off at Aetna specifically, but reiterated the move is part of the company's plan to eliminate 5,000 "non-customer-facing positions."
"We do not expect there to be any impact to our customer-facing colleagues in our stores, pharmacies, clinics or customer services centers," the company said in a statement Aug. 1 when the layoffs were announced. "We're committed to supporting impacted colleagues, and they will receive severance pay and benefits, including access to outplacement services."
The planned job cuts represent about 2 percent of CVS' overall workforce. Across social media, former employees with Aetna detailed some of the positions that were part of the layoffs:
- Director of data engineering
- Lead director of network development
- Senior product designer
- Senior software engineer
- Senior scrum master
- Senior business analyst
- Project manager
- Program manager
