Computerworld’s 32nd report on the top places to work in IT featured five health payers.

The Dec. 9 list relied on a survey from Computerworld publisher Foundry and included a breakdown by company size and areas of strength.

Of the large organizations, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina landed fifth overall, CareSource secured 14th, Health Care Service Corp. ranked 29th and CVS Health — which includes Aetna as a subsidiary — ranked 48th.

BCBS of North Carolina ranked ninth out of large companies for IT growth, and CareSource ranked 10th in the same category. BCBS of North Carolina also landed seventh in workplace modernization and third in workplace culture.

In the midsize group, Cambia Health Solutions ranked 11th overall. It was also sixth for career development and training, fourth for retention and engagement and 10th for workplace culture.

Several other healthcare organizations also made the cut, including those with clinically integrated networks or hospital-run health plans, such as Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins Medicine.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Fall Payer Issues Roundtable, taking place November 17–19 in Chicago, payer executives and healthcare leaders will come together to discuss value-based care, regulatory changes, cost management strategies and innovations shaping the future of payer-provider collaboration.
