Fortune released its ranking of the world’s top 500 companies by revenue for fiscal 2025 on July 28. Out of those 500 companies, women lead 34.
Among those are Gail Boudreaux and Sarah London, CEOs of Elevance Health and Centene, respectively. Elevance took the 31st spot on the list, and Centene claimed 32nd. Elevance was the highest-ranked company run by a woman on both the Global 500 and national Fortune 500 lists.
Ms. Boudreaux took the helm at Elevance in 2017, and Ms. London took over at Centene in 2022. They took home $22,582,314 and $19,506,298, respectively, in compensation in 2025.
While a record 34 women now run Global 500 companies, that only comes out to 6.8% of the overall list.
Under their leadership, Elevance’s 2025 revenue was $199.13 billion, up 12.5%, and Centene’s was $194.78 billion, up 19.4%. Elevance had $1.5 billion in second-quarter profit for fiscal 2026, and Centene brought in $1.1 billion while lifting its guidance.
Including the two insurers, thirty-one healthcare organizations made the Global 500 list. UnitedHealth Group, CVS Health, Cigna, Humana and Molina Healthcare also made the cut, with UnitedHealth in fourth place overall.
