New Jersey is likely to soon become the eighth state to require state-regulated health plans to cover abortion services, Bloomberg reported Dec. 1.

Two state boards voted to allow the public to comment on the issue, and a final vote by the end of the year is expected to implement the requirement starting Jan. 1.

The requirement would apply to state-regulated individual and group markets, which is about 1.3 million people in New Jersey.
