Minnesota bill would require coverage for weight loss drugs 

Minnesota lawmakers have introduced a bill that would require health insurance coverage for the management and treatment of obesity, including GLP-1s.

The bill would require state-regulated health plans to provide coverage for evidence-based treatments for obesity, including behavioral, dietary, and physical activity therapies, as well as bariatric surgery and drugs approved by the FDA for the treatment of obesity.

If passed, the legislation would be effective in 2026.
