CMS to cover COVID-19 vaccinations for children 5 and younger

CMS said June 22 it will pay for COVID-19 vaccinations for children aged six months to five years who are covered under Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program without cost-sharing.

Nearly all people with Medicare, self-insured employer-sponsored coverage, and group and individual coverage can also receive COVID-19 vaccinations, including boosters, at no cost.

The FDA and CDC recently authorized and recommended both the Pfizer vaccine for children six months through four years of age and the Moderna vaccine for children six months through five years of age.
