WVU Medicine unveils Medicare Advantage product through planned merger

West Virginia University Health System, a nine-hospital system in Morgantown, will launch a Medicare Advantage product with a health plan it’s in the process of acquiring, according to The Intelligencer.

In May, WVU Medicine said it would acquire The Health Plan. While the deal progresses, the organizations announced Oct. 4 their intention to operate a new Medicare Advantage plan, called Secure Care + WVU Medicine + The Health Plan.

Under the new plan, Medicare Advantage beneficiaries would gain access to WVU Medicine’s hospitals, clinics and healthcare providers.
