Those who have been tuning in to the latest season of ABC's The Bachelorette may have seen former and future UnitedHealth Group employee John Buresh starring in a main role.
Mr. Buresh worked as a data scientist at UnitedHealth from 2018 to 2021 and will rejoin the company in a few weeks, according to an Aug. 7 report from the Star Tribune. He was also one of 25 contestants who joined the 20th season of The Bachelorette hoping to win the heart of the show's star, Charity Lawson.
Mr. Buresh is from Minnesota and attended Minnetonka High School, where UnitedHealth Group is based. He told the Star Tribune he wanted to represent the Midwest on national TV and was also urged by his family to apply.
"One of my goals is to seek discomfort," he told the newspaper. "When you get comfortable is when you stop progressing in life."
While at UnitedHealth Group, he studied COVID-19 data and worked with top universities to study the effects of the virus across different populations. Although Mr. Buresh was eliminated in the fourth week of the reality competition, he told the Star Tribune he would be open to becoming the first Asian man to star on The Bachelor, which also airs on ABC.
