The value-based lab service programs will align incentives similar to accountable care arrangements UnitedHealthcare already has with 1,100-plus hospitals and 110,000 physicians. UnitedHealthcare and LabCorp said they will share data to better anticipate members’ care options in an effort to reduce care gaps, which will mirror a model UnitedHealthcare already uses to integrate medical and pharmacy data.

The companies said their agreement will help them design benefits that incentivize members to use in-network lab services.
