UnitedHealth Group is the world's largest insurance company by net premiums for the eighth year in a row, according to AM Best's latest ranking of global insurers.
The rankings, published Jan. 6, put Centene and Elevance Health in the second and third spots, each advancing two places from last year.
UnitedHealth Group grew its net premiums by 12 percent in 2021, reaching $226.2 billion, according to AM Best.
Kaiser Foundation Group Health Plans, the only other U.S.-based company in the top 10, took the seventh spot in the ranking.
AM Best is a credit ranking agency specializing in the insurance industry.
