Through UnitedHealthcare and Optum, the company has helped build affordable and mixed income housing across 31 states and Washington, D.C. using Low-Income Housing Investment Tax Credits, Community Reinvestment Act loans, and direct investments, according to a May 15 news release.
In total, UnitedHealth has helped to build more than 25,000 homes across the country in urban, suburban and rural settings.
Most recently, the company supported a $24 million redevelopment of a property in East Point, Georgia, which includes 88 affordable housing units for low-income families. Health and social services will be offered nearby from UnitedHealth Group, Atlanta-based Grady Health, and Goodwill of North Georgia.
